The Department of Maternal and Child Health Nursing is one of the core academic departments within the College of Nursing. It specializes in preparing female students both scientifically and practically to provide comprehensive and integrated healthcare for women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, as well as care for children from birth through adolescence.

The department aims to prepare highly competent nursing professionals capable of managing various health conditions related to mothers and children. This is achieved through advanced educational and training programs that emphasize practical experience and keep pace with developments in the healthcare field.

The department also strives to support scientific research, contribute to community awareness, and promote preventive care and primary healthcare—aligning with the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to improve the quality of health services and empower women in the healthcare sector.

The department is staffed by a distinguished group of faculty members who are academically and professionally qualified. It operates within an interactive educational environment that includes simulation labs and clinical experiences in hospitals and health centers.

Providing outstanding education in the field of maternal and child nursing and conducting scientific research and community service at the local and global levels.

Mission

Providing students with the information, skills and positive attitudes that enable them to provide distinguished nursing care for mothers and children commensurate with the needs of the labor market and to contribute to distinguished scientific research and support the health needs of the community in the field of motherhood and childhood.

Objectives

 Developing courses in the field of maternal and pediatric nursing.

Enhancing a positive learning environment for nursing students.

Improving self-development and critical thinking skills for nursing students.

Training nursing students to provide competent and comprehensive nursing care in the field of maternal and pediatric nursing.
