The Department of Adult Care and Advanced Nursing Care is one of the foundational pillars of the College of Nursing at King Khalid University – Abha. It aims to prepare highly qualified nursing professionals capable of providing advanced and comprehensive healthcare to adults, including acute and chronic cases, in accordance with the latest scientific standards and clinical practices.

In alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the department contributes to the national transformation of the healthcare sector through:

  • Preparing highly competent Saudi healthcare practitioners capable of addressing complex health challenges and supporting a comprehensive healthcare system.

  • Promoting advanced health education that keeps pace with scientific and technological advancements and contributes to improving the quality of healthcare services.

  • Advancing scientific research in adult and critical care nursing to support the development of nursing practices and drive healthcare innovation.

  • Investing in human capital by building student and professional capabilities that include critical thinking, teamwork, and effective leadership skills.

The department also focuses on preparing graduates with strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within healthcare teams, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the national healthcare system and contributing to improved quality of life—one of the key goals of Vision 2030.

Through its specialized academic and training programs, the department strives to be a model of excellence in nursing education and a primary source of qualified professionals who support the transformation of healthcare in the Kingdom towards efficiency, sustainability, and prevention.

Vision

The department's vision is that nursing is the science, art, and discipline of caring for people by promoting, maintaining and rehabilitating health and its integrity throughout life stages

Mission

To provide a conducive learning environment that delivers courses that will help students acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors necessary to care for health disorders of acute and chronic adult conditions within the context of adult health nursing and critical care nursing

Objectives

Preparing nurses with a degree of competence and professionalism in line with ethical and behavioral values.

 Finding appropriate innovative methods to solve patients' problems through scientific critical thinking and a holistic scientific approach.

Preparing qualified female students for self-development in accordance with the technological and scientific development in the specialization.

Educating students about the problems facing the nursing profession, analyzing them, and contributing to solving them to advance the profession

Qualifying female students to work with health team members to provide integrated health care

The faculty members carry out scientific research in the field of adult care and encourage female students to participate

It is my pleasure and honor to welcome you to the Department of Adult Care and Advanced Nursing Care at the College of Nursing – King Khalid University in Abha. This department stands as one of the pillars of the college, dedicated to preparing nursing professionals capable of delivering comprehensive healthcare based on scientific and professional foundations that meet community needs and align with national aspirations.

At the department, we are committed to providing a stimulating learning environment that focuses on building knowledge, developing skills, and reinforcing ethical and behavioral values among our female students, so they may become active contributors to the healthcare sector and participate in achieving the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030—particularly in enhancing healthcare quality, investing in national competencies, and improving quality of life.

The department also places great emphasis on scientific research, encouraging both students and faculty members to contribute to studies that help advance nursing practices and improve patient health outcomes.

We continuously strive for excellence and leadership in nursing education, working as a team to graduate nurses who are capable, responsible, and efficient members of an integrated healthcare system that serves both the nation and the community.
