About the college

The idea of establishing the Nursing College stems from the urgent need to prepare highly skilled nursing professionals with both scientific and practical expertise, aligned with the technological advancements in science and technology. This is in line with the need to provide preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative nursing services that enhance the maintenance of an appropriate health standard for individuals, families, and communities through the use of advanced tools.

The Nursing College at the University Center for Female Students aims to produce outstanding graduates who meet the labor market's needs and contribute to supporting the healthcare sector. This aligns with the comprehensive development underway in Saudi Arabia in general, and the Asir region in particular. One of its key objectives is to establish a better educational environment, develop curricula, advance scientific research, and enhance the capabilities of faculty members to produce qualified professionals capable of meeting the job market's demands, both in terms of knowledge and skills, for Saudi nurses.

The ambition for excellence and innovation stems from the continuous support of the leader of this journey, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and his Deputy and Crown Prince. This support emphasizes the care and attention given to Saudi women, particularly in higher education, to empower them to fulfill their roles in serving the community at large, with a particular focus on the growth and prosperity of the region under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz. His Highness is committed to following up on and caring for the students of King Khalid University, which also receives ongoing support and attention from His Excellency the University President, Prof. Faleh Al-Sulami.

The progress of countries and their peoples depends on the efficiency and development of their human resources, and higher education represents one of the most important means of preparing these resources. It is a strategic investment for every country. Through higher education programs, each country can meet its needs for skilled labor and the workforce required by the job market and national development needs.

In recent years, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has shown a remarkable interest in higher education, coupled with unlimited financial support from its wise government. This is evident in the establishment of many universities, aiming to increase the number of students accepted from general education and accommodate them, in addition to efforts to improve the quality of higher education outputs and its institutions. These efforts are reflected in the creation of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment, as well as the development of a future strategic plan for university education in the Kingdom, known as the "Afaq Project."

In line with these efforts, local universities have competed to develop their strategic plans to ensure they align with the standards of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment and the "Afaq Project." King Khalid University is one of those universities. It developed a strategic plan in cooperation with the Stanford Research Institute (SRI), which assisted in analyzing the current situation at the university and in preparing and developing the strategic plan. This project was in response to these developments and aimed to clarify the strategic role the university aspires to play in light of the efforts to support higher education. This has been achieved by developing strategic plans for some university units to ensure they operate according to the university's strategic plan, with the vision, mission, and objectives of each unit aligning with those of the university's overall strategic plan.

Based on the above, this document, "The Operational Plan for the Nursing College," was prepared. It outlines the general strategic features, starting with the formulation of the college's vision and mission. A set of values upon which the college’s work is based was also developed, and based on these values, the college conducts its activities and achieves its goals. Based on the vision, mission, and values, a set of interconnected and integrated strategic objectives was formulated. Through these objectives, the college seeks to achieve them by implementing several strategic initiatives that include programs linked to performance indicators and metrics that provide continuous information on the implementation of the strategy, ensuring its achievement and execution within the specified time frames. This contributes to achieving the future aspirations and directions of the college.

In conclusion, the work team hopes that this effort will contribute to organizing and developing the work of the college and serve as the foundational pillar and roadmap for its future endeavors in the coming phase, with God's will.
