Participation of the Nursing Club in the Event "Happiness Plants Hope"

As part of King Khalid University's commitment to enhancing its societal and humanitarian role, and its continuous efforts to support various community groups, the Nursing College Club in Abha, in collaboration with the College of Dentistry Club for Female Students and the Student Affairs Agency for Female Students, organized the event "Joy Plants Hope." This event was part of the Ajawid 3 Ramadan initiative aimed at spreading positivity and fostering a spirit of giving. The event was held at the "Social Education Home for Girls" in Khamis Mushait on Thursday, 13/03/2025, from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. This event was in line with the university's vision of promoting volunteer work.

Objectives of the Event:

  • Reinforcing the values of tolerance and forgiveness among members of society.

  • Enhancing social communication through interactive games and recreational activities.

  • Providing awareness and health content to increase health awareness among girls.

  • Supporting the mental and physical health of the residents of the home.

Event Sections:

  1. Fasting Iftar Corner: The Nursing College Club, in cooperation with faculty members, staff, and students, organized iftar meals for the girls at the Social Education Home for Girls in Khamis Mushait.

  2. Health Awareness Corner (Nursing College):

    • Nursing students raised awareness about the physiological changes accompanying adolescence and the impact of hormones on mental health.

    • Dr. Nagwa El-Fishawy (Assistant Professor of Maternal and Child Nursing at the Nursing College, Abha) provided information about premenstrual syndrome and self-care during menstruation.

    • Students presented a session on stress, its negative effects on mental health, and ways to cope with it.

    • A workshop on coping skills and their role in improving mental health and reducing stress was conducted by students.

    • Dr. Rania Abdel Hamid raised awareness about the importance of self-confidence and how to enhance it.

  3. Interactive Activities and Games Corner: Nursing students shared a series of recreational games with the girls at the home, which included:

    • The Examples Game.

    • The Beads Game.

    • The Positive Words Balloon Game.

    • The "Don't Say It" Game.

    • The "Catch It" Game.

    • The Good Cards Game.

  4. Tolerance Corner:

    • Students presented a session on the importance of tolerance and its connection to mental health.

    • An interactive discussion session was held on the concept of tolerance and its impact on social relationships and mental health.

    • The session included activities to help the girls practice tolerance and build their self-confidence.

    • Motivational phrases were distributed to promote positivity and inspire hope.

  5. Draw Your Tolerance Corner: An art activity where the girls expressed their understanding of tolerance through drawing and coloring.

  6. Oral and Dental Health Awareness Corner (Dentistry Students):

    • Dentistry students conducted awareness sessions on oral and dental health during Ramadan, offering medical and scientific advice to help the girls maintain good oral health while fasting.

    • A detailed explanation of the importance of oral care during fasting was provided, focusing on daily healthy habits.

    • Educational pamphlets were distributed containing practical tips on maintaining oral and dental health during Ramadan.

  7. Yoga Session Corner: The event concluded with a yoga session, led by Dr. Hiba Kamal, where faculty members, students, and the girls participated to promote relaxation and mental well-being.

  8. Gifts Corner: Nursing and Dentistry students distributed material gifts to the girls at the home, aimed at bringing joy and happiness.

Event Outcomes:

The "Ajawid" event served as a model that embodies the significance of community work and enhancing the spirit of giving and tolerance through purposeful recreational and awareness activities. The event contributed to creating a positive experience for the residents of the home, supporting their mental and physical health.

The event received a great deal of interaction from the attendees, who expressed their appreciation for the initiative that helped them build self-confidence and expand their understanding of the importance of tolerance and mental health. The event also had a positive impact on increasing their health awareness. The staff members at the home, through a feedback survey measuring participants' satisfaction and benefits from the event, expressed their gratitude for such initiatives that provide psychological and educational support for the girls and help create a community environment based on giving and solidarity.

At the end of the event, certificates of appreciation were presented to the organizers and participants in recognition of their efforts in making this event a success, reflecting King Khalid University’s commitment to promoting social responsibility and strengthening communication with the community through purposeful and creative activities.

The organizers confirmed that such events would continue to spread awareness and enhance values of good and tolerance, emphasizing the crucial role of academic institutions in supporting various community groups and instilling a spirit of hope and joy.
