Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean of the College, Dr. Sahar Rafdan Al-Shahrani, and the esteemed Vice Dean, Dr. Reem Humaidi,
The Student Care and Counseling Unit, in collaboration with the Professional Development Unit, the Department of Community and Mental Health Nursing, and in partnership with the Scientific Research Unit at the College of Computer Science, organized a workshop for faculty members on how to use Artificial Intelligence in the educational process, with a special focus on Custom GPT in course design and preparation.
Dr. Iman delivered a comprehensive introductory presentation that covered the concept of Generative Artificial Intelligence, the mechanism of GPT models, and the importance of customizing these models to serve higher education. She also provided practical examples of how AI can be used in course design, interactive activity creation, and academic student support.
The attendees were trained on the steps to create a Custom GPT, starting from defining objectives, crafting model-specific instructions, and uploading relevant educational materials and references. Dr. Iman further explained how to use the platform and tailor GPT models to align with nursing curricula and the educational needs of the college.
Dr. Iman also answered all questions posed by participants, clarifying both technical and ethical aspects of using AI, and discussed methods for ensuring the quality and reliability of GPT-generated content.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks and honorary recognition for Dr. Iman by the Vice Dean, in appreciation of her outstanding efforts. Attendees engaged in a fruitful exchange of ideas on integrating smart models in both educational and research contexts within the College of Nursing.
The event concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continuing such workshops to promote a culture of digital innovation among faculty members.
