The Effect of Oral and Dental Health on Mental Health

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Nursing in Abha, Dr. Sahar Rafdan Al-Shahrani, the Department of Community Health and Mental Health Nursing—in collaboration with the Community Service Committee—invites you to attend a workshop titled: "The Impact of Oral and Dental Health on Mental Well-being." The workshop will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the 7th Secondary School for Girls in Abha, beginning at 8:00 AM.

Workshop Objectives:

To raise awareness about the interrelationship between oral health and psychological well-being, and how each can directly or indirectly affect the other.

To explain the psychological impact of oral and dental issues such as loss of self-confidence, social anxiety, and depression stemming from physical pain or concerns regarding one’s appearance.

To promote the prevention of oral and dental diseases through the adoption of daily healthy habits, and to highlight their role in improving psychological quality of life.

To provide psychological support strategies for patients suffering from chronic oral conditions, and to explore how psychological care can be integrated into medical treatment.

To encourage interdisciplinary collaboration (among dentistry, psychiatry, and nutrition) to ensure comprehensive patient care. To emphasize the importance of regular dental check-ups as an essential component of overall public and mental health.

Wishing everyone continued health and well-being.
